Raytheon to support Fire Scout software

Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 35 Detachment 1 crew members make final preparations to an MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned autonomous helicopter before flight operations aboard the littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth (LCS-3). HSM-35 is the Navy’s first composite expeditionary helicopter squadron. The aviation detachment aboard Fort Worth consists of one MH-60R Seahawk helicopter and one MQ-8B that compliments the MH-60R by extending the range and endurance thereby enhancing maritime domain awareness. Raytheon has been awarded a $21.6 million contract for MQ-8 Fire Scout software.

Under the contract, Raytheon will continue the software upgrade transition in support of the MQ-8 fire scout unmanned aircraft system tactical control system 2016 Linux cyber baseline,“ according to the Department of Defense contract announcement.

The work is scheduled to be completed by October 2018. The contract was awarded by Naval Air Systems Command.
