L-3 sells turrets for anti-terror operations

A UH-60 Black Hawk assigned to the 2nd Assault Helicopter Battalion, 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division, approaches to pick up a cargo trailer, during the sling-load phase of the DeGlopper Air Assault School, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Bragg, N.C., August 18.

L-3 has been awarded a contract to provide sensor turrets for counterterrorism operations in the Middle East.

The eight WESCAM MX-10D electro-optical and infrared turrets are for a Middle Eastern nation. Neither the nation nor the value of the contract were specified in the L-3 news release, but the company did say that the turrets “will be used by the customer in support of counterterrorism operations from its newly acquired UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.”

The MX-10 includes a thermal imager, and daylight and low-light cameras, as well as a laser designator, rangefinder and illuminator.
