The Air Force has successfully demonstrated the radar warning receiver for the Air Force’s new combat rescue helicopter.
A prototype of the Lockheed Martin AN/APR-52 receiver was demonstrated at the Air Force’s Integrated Demonstrations and Applications Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, according to a Lockheed Martin news release. The receiver will be fitted on the HH-60W helicopter, which will make its first flight next year.
The AN/APR-52 is a digital, four-channel radar warning receiver designed to operate in dense signal environments.
“Although extensive contractor testing was previously conducted on the AN/APR-52 RWR, the USAF laboratory provides a unique capability that allows high-fidelity demonstration of the system in a true operational environment,” said Bob Adams, Lockheed Martin’s director of electronic warfare programs.
