Raytheon BBN Technologies has won a contract to deliver Boomerang Warrior-X hostile fire locators to the Middle East.
The Raytheon announcement would only identify the customer as a “Gulf nation,” but the company did say the contract, valued at more than $10 million, calls for approximately 2,000 Boomerang Warrior-X system to be delivered over the next 12 months.
The Boomerang Warrior-X, which weighs just 12 ounces, provides hostile fire location to individual soldiers through an earpiece and lightweight display, and gives unit leaders grid coordinates for the shooters.
“This technology is a proven life saver on the battlefield,” said Ed Campbell, president of Raytheon BBN Technologies. “Boomerang delivers the best performance of any available shooter detection system today at the lowest cost.”
