GATR awarded two inflatable satcom terminal contracts

Staff Sgt. Markes Johnson, satellite communication systems operator-maintainer, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, runs a systems check on an inflatable satellite communication antenna during Combined Joint Operational Access Exercise 15-01, at Fort Bragg, April 17, 2015. The U.S. and British military have been enhancing their inter-service communication platforms. CJOAX 15-01 is the Division’s largest bilateral training exercise held at Fort Bragg in nearly 20 years, and a major milestone in the Division’s interoperability program with the U.K.’s 16 Air Assault Brigade. GATR Technologies, a subsidiary of Cubic Corp., has won two contracts for inflatable terminals.

GATR won a Phase III Small Business Innovation Research contract, valued at more than $5 million, to integrate and test the Transportable Tactical Command Communications (T2C2) inflatable satellite antenna terminals with software systems in preparation for logistics demonstration and product and operational testing, according to a Cubic news release.

Under a second, $3.2 million contract, GATR delivered 10 inflatable satellite antenna terminals to the Project Manager Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (PM WIN-T) in support of the T2C2 program.

“This first order for five small- and five medium-sized terminals is part of the Army’s Program of Record for next-generation, early-entry communications and will be utilized for testing,” Cubic said. “If the government exercises all full rate production purchase orders, the T2C2 effort could bring more than 780 GATR terminals to the field.”
