British recon vehicle completes review

The reconnaissance version of Britain’s SCOUT armored vehicle has passed its Critical Design Review (CDR).

The review covered the vehicle’s platform hull design, the Lockheed Martin UK-developed turret, electronic architecture, software and other systems, according to a news release by General Dynamics UK. The first SCOUT Reconnaissance pre-production prototype is scheduled to be completed later this year.

“The SCOUT Reconnaissance variant is the flagship of the SCOUT SV [Specialist Vehicle] program and will provide a step-change in ground-based ISTAR capability to the British Army,” said General Dynamics UK – Land Systems vice president Kevin Connell. “The completion of the SCOUT Reconnaissance variant CDR is a significant step in delivering a family of SCOUT SV platforms, which represent the future of armored fighting vehicles for the British Army.”
