Orbital ATK wins Afghan ISR aircraft contract

Orbital ATK has been awarded a $69.4 million Air Force contract for Afghan ISR aircraft.

The Department of Defense announcement only described the award as an “undefinitized contractual action” for the Afghanistan Air Force’s AC-208 armed ISR aircraft requirement. The contract also falls under a pseudo foreign military sales requirement. The AC-208 Combat Caravan is a militarized light attack and ISR variant of the commercial Cessna 208 aircraft.

The contract was awarded by the 645th Aeronautical Systems Group, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.
