Decisive Analytics to help Navy with data analysis

Petty Officer 2nd Class Kindred Heard, from Loachapoka, Ala., communicates with the guided-missile destroyer USS Shoup on a Link 11 data terminal, coordinating a tactical data picture for the Abraham Lincoln Strike Group in the display and tracking module of the combat direction center aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility to support Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom as well as maritime security operations.

Decisive Analytics has been awarded a $1.5 million Navy contract for data analysis tools.

Under the Office of Naval Research contract, Decisive Analytics will develop the Semantic Powered Event Reasoning (SEMPER) system.

“This system will semantically tag and discover data via an intelligent, natural language query mechanism to provide the most relevant information in a timely manner while removing all of the noise contained within the massive data stores,” according to a Decisive Analytics news release.

SEMPER “will be built to meet the requirements of the Civil Information Exploitation thrust area while enhancing the speed, accuracy, usability, and agility of the tactical expeditionary Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance data system,” the company said.
