DRS Technologies has partnered with robotics firm Autonomous Solutions Inc. to develop route clearance vehicles for the U.S. military.

The partners will offer products to meet the Army’s emerging Route Clearance Interrogation System (RCIS) Type I program, which involves robotizing the High Mobility Engineering Excavator (HMEE), according to a DRS news release. The RCIS will develop a capability to operate the legacy HMEE excavator as a remote-controlled route clearance vehicle.

“This alliance combines ASI’s expertise in vehicle automation with DRS engineering production capabilities, market presence and customer awareness,” DRS said.
